Chennai, Jan 20: In a resolute stand, Naam Tamilar Katchi coordinator Seeman reiterated the party’s commitment to contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024 independently. The party envisions being “the number 1 party in Tamil Nadu and not one of the many parties in Tamil Nadu,” as stated during the general body meeting held in Chennai.
Over the years, Naam Tamilar Katchi has witnessed a notable surge in Tamil Nadu’s electoral landscape. From securing a mere 1% vote share in the 2016 State Assembly elections, the party marked a significant leap with 3.9% in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. In the subsequent 2021 Assembly elections, Naam Tamilar Katchi further strengthened its position by capturing approximately 6.9% of the votes.
Addressing party members at the meeting, Seeman dismissed the notion that contesting elections without endorsing a Prime Ministerial candidate poses a disadvantage.
