Chennai: With nearly five months into the lockdown, as many as 369 lives were lost in the neighbourhood of Teynampet.
High death rate is reported in places like Anna Nagar where 276 people died and Royapuram, where 273 causalities took place. This morning, the active cases in the city is at 12,287, approximately 10 per centage.
The number of recovered cases is 1,06,626 and the recovery rate is at 88 per cent. The death rate is 2.09 per cent with 2,537 persons succumbing to the viral infection.
As part of rapid testing, on 21 August, as many as 12,660 persons were tested for Coronavirus. In Chennai, a total of 1,21,450 Coronavirus cases were recorded.

According to the data, Kodambakkam is back on the graph with the most number of active cases. Nearly 1,470 persons have the disease.. Anna Nagar, a containment zone has 1,417 persons contracting the virus. Ambattur has 1,339 persons testing positive. At least 1,211 persons in Adyar have the virus and 1,211 persons in Valsaravakkam have tested positive.
The least number of active cases is in Manali with 152 testing positive. In Kodambakkam, as many as 12,362 persons have recovered.
The pandemic has affected more men than women. As per data, 60.40 per cent of the patients are male and 39.60 per cent are female. Around 19.28 per cent of those contracting the virus is from the age group of 30-39 years of age.
