Chennaiites benefit with free eye camp


Chennai: Around 100 people were benefited by a free Eye Camp organised by RAPRA in association with an optical shop in Alwarpet in the city recently.

Special additions to the free refraction tests were routine BP check up, blood sugar estimation and free spectacles each worth Rs 1500 to the needy.

There was a talk on ‘How to take care of your Eyes’ by Prem Sudhakar.

Prem listed the common eye problems like diseases which affect the eyes, different types of eye injuries, prolonged computer usage, refractive error with their identification and cure.

The association’s quarterly meet was also conducted after the eye camp. Mylapore MLA Dr R Natraj was the chief guest.

Meritorious students studying in 11th standard from four corporation schools and aided schools were given scholarship amounts of Rs 4,000 each. 40 students were benefited.

In his address, Dr Natraj congratulated RAPRA for their interest in rain water harvesting and source segregation.

K L Balasubramanian of TAKSRA gave a power point presentation of Source Segregation in his street and also about a formation of SWM Forum to help others in knowledge sharing.
