Tamara Leisure enters TN

Chennai: Tamara Leisure has launched a luxury property in Kodaikanal called The Tamara Kodai with has 53 suites of French provincial design. The property was a restoration project that has been converted to have boardroom and conference facilities.

Named La Provedence, it also includes a ball room accommodating more than 200 guests. The price ranges from Rs 19,840 to Rs 38,400 per night. The Tamara Kodai also boasts of possessing the only temperature controlled pool in all of Kodaikanal.

'When we first set eyes on the century old building, we saw a lot of potential in it,' said promoter and director - Strategy and Development, Tamara Leisure Experiences, Shruti Shibulal.

She is hopeful that by 2025, the group will add 400 more rooms to their inventory, bringing the total to 1,000 rooms. The Tamara Coorg, a 56-key luxury resort and the Lilac Hotel, a collection of 28 serviced apartments in Bengaluru, are the Group's other properties.

Shruti said, "We have four properties currently in development, apart from the five-star property in Kodai that we just launched (which has 53 suites). These properties are in Bengaluru, Guruvayur, Alappuzha and Thiruvananthapuram (which will be ready by the year end)."

The company's guiding principles are to focus on responsible tourism and provide unique experiences to it's guests. Head - sales and marketing, Sharath, said, "Expanding to about eight acres, the properly houses 52 superior luxury suites and we've tried to infuse the history and legacy of the land with the colonial look and feel of each room and at the same time stay modern in terms of amenities."

"We have set new standards in the field of hospitality and aim to be trend-setters of the industry," added Sharath.
