Chennai: The Coimbatore zone joint director Kala has submitted the report about the disaster management drill that went fatally wrong in the Kovai Kalaimagal College for Arts and Science to the Collector and Higher Education Department secretary.

Though the college claims that they were asked by the University Grants Commission to conduct the drill, it is being probed if the letter was a genuine one or fake.

Bharathiyar University, to which the Coimbatore college is affiliated, has also sought a report from the college authorities about the disaster management drill and the death of 19-year-old girl student Logeshwari.

R Arumugam, the trainer who claimed to be a National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) personnel and prodded the student to jump off the second floor of her college building during the drill, has beenĀ arrested.

Though he claimed to represent the NDMA, the agency has denied that they had appointed him to conduct the drill in the college. The letter he produced to substantiate his claim has proved to be a fake.
