ONGC provides van to special school

Thiruthuraipundi: As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), ONGC - Cauvery Basin has provided a 14-seater van costing Rs 10,01,954 to Bharathamatha Family Welfare Foundation in Thiruthuraipundi, Tiruvarur district.

The van was handed over to the foundation by T Rajendran, executive director, Cauvery Basin, ONGC, Chennai, on Monday.

Bharathamatha Foundation is an NGO in Thiruthuraipundi working for the welfare of differently-abled, women, and downtrodden for the last 24 years. They are also into the rehabilitation of special children and those with autism, cerebral palsy, etc.

The foundation also runs a residential school for them, a day care centre and an integrated complex for the welfare of senior citizens and destitute children.

Rajendran said, "Transport facility for the children was a long-standing requirement of the organisation and now the van given by us will ease the hardship of children and parents considerably. Van conveyance will be used by children along with their parents for commuting to the special school from various parts of Thiruthuraipundi. The vehicle will also be used to take them to hospital for routine medical check-up."
