Mettur Dam overflows after five years

Chennai: After a gap of five years, the water level in the Mettur Dam, the lifeline for farmers in Cauvery delta districts to take up irrigation, attained the full level of 120 ft today, following which flood warning was issued to 12 districts in the delta region.

This was for the 39th time, the dam has attained the full level in its 84-year history.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami chaired a review meeting with senior Ministers and officials of the state on preparedness put in place in the Cauvery delta areas following increased inflow into the dam and the flood warning issued by the district administration.
