Madurai decked up for Naalai Namadhae

Chennai: Banners and festoons  have adorned all walls and roadsides between Rameswaram and Madurai as Kamal Hasan kickstarted his political journey today. His supporters have gathered in large numbers at both the towns.

Kamal Haasan had arrived in Rameswaram on Tuesday night and was given a rousing welcome by his supporters. The 62-year-old’s supporters raised slogans 'Hail Varungala Muthalvere (Hail future chief minister), Hail Nammavar' as he arrived in his native Ramanathapuram district.

Kamal Haasan would address public meetings in Ramanathapuram, Manamadurai and Paramakudi in Madurai later in the day.

While announcing his political tour last month, the actor had said he too shared the vision of Kalam who dreamt of a good Tamilnadu'. Kamal, in a tweet, welcomed people to attend his party launch to create a new era.

At all the important stretches in Rameswaram and Madurai, fans of Kamal Haasan have come up with colourful posters. They could be seen waving their hands getting ready to welcome the actor.

Meanwhile at Madurai, all arrangements were in place for the rally that will take place this evening. Security has been tightened and police have been deployed at various roads around Othakadai meeting venue.

Barricades have been put up and vehicles are allowed to enter the town after a thorough check. Water and temporary toilets have been set up at the venue and volunteers of Kamal Narpani Iyakkam have been supervising the arrangements.

Freak mishap at meeting venue

Meanwhile with hours to go for the meeting, the grand dais erected at the venue saw a huge LED display unit set up to air the proceedings this evening had a fall. It let loose tension among those gathered at the venue.

Police personnel rushed to the spot and took necessary steps. Sources said all steps would be taken to replace it to ensure people get to watch the meet hassle free.
