Low pressure area to bring rain to southern TN

Chennai: The low pressure area that formed in the southeast region of the Arabian Sea has moved to Minicoy Islands, 130 km away, and is expected to weaken by tomorrow, the Regional Meteorological Centre here said today.

The RMC said winds reaching up to 40 to 60 kmph are expected to blow near Kanyakumari. So, fishermen have been advised not to put out to sea.

"Today and tomorrow, the southern districts of Tamilnadu may receive heavy to moderate rainfall and some northern districts may receive light rainfall," an RMD source stated.

As of today, Thoothukudi and Papanasam recorded the highest amount of rainfall at 20 cm and 19 cm.
