I-T raids continue in TN for fifth day

Chennai/ Thiruchengode: A day after Income Tax raids reportedly unearthed crores of unaccounted money from the food giant Christy Friedgram Ltd, officials are continuing the searches today for the fifth consecutive day.

Sources said unaccounted money was seized today as well with investigations going on simultaneously.

It all started on Thursday when I-T department conducted its raid at the premises of Christy Friedgram Ltd leading to an employee jumping off the first floor.

During the process, the department seized over Rs 17 crore cash, 10 kg worth gold and property documents, reports stated.

It has also seized electronic storage devices and laptops from the raid locations. Bank account details of many employees are also being checked.

A large number of immovable assets are believed to be benami and officials have taken possession of all the documents, and currency from the premises, they added.
