After reaching Delhi, Panneerselvam told mediapersons that he was meeting the Defense Minister to thank her for providing an air ambulance to rush his ailing brother from Madurai to Chennai for treatment.
Sources said that the Defense Minister was not happy with the Deputy Chief Minister revealing everything in public and hence declined to meet him.
While AIADMK MP Maitreyan, who accompanied Panneerselvam, was called to the Defense Minister's chamber, the Deputy Chief Minister was left sitting in the visitor's room. He waited for around 20 minutes and left. The shawl and bouquet he brought for the Minister was left in the visitor's room itself.
Meanwhile, the Tamilnadu government today told the Madras High Court that it has ordered the Anti Corruption Department to start the preliminary probe into the alleged assets case involving Panneerselvam and his family.
The case was filed by DMK MP RS Bharathi in which he alleged that Panneerselvam, his wife Vijayalakshmi, sons Ravindranath, Jayapradeep, daughter Kavithabanu and brothers have accumulated assets disproportionately. He has mentioned that the Panneerselvam had given false information about his assets during election time.
