Chennai: The mortal remains of Tirupur-based industrialist Sivamoorthy (45), a relative of former Union Finance Minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram, have been recovered from a lake near Hosur. Sivamoorthy went missing two days ago and a search was on for him.

The startling revelation about the murder was made when police arrested three henchmen near Vellore during a vehicle check.

According to sources, the three men have confessed of kidnapping and murdering Sivamoorthy, husband of Nalini Chidambaram's sister Padmini's daughter Durga. He was running a textile industry in Tirupur.

Sources said he left his house two days ago saying that he was going to Coimbatore, but did not return back. Following this, his father Chinnaswamy has lodged a complaint at Tirupur North police station. Meanwhile, police who were involved in patrolling near Ambur stopped a vehicle on suspicion.

During interrogation the trio in the car made contradictory statements.

Following this, they were taken to Ambur Taluk Police station for further investigation. There they  confessed of murdering Sivamoorthy. The trio has been identified as Manibharathi (22), Gowthaman (24) and Vimal (35).

They had said they were roaming near Vellore aimlessly without knowing what to do after disposing the body.

It is said that Sivamoorthy had an illicit affair with Bhuvaneshwari, who was working in his company. Bhuvaneshwari's husband Moorthy who came to know about it had already warned them, however they seemed to continue the affair following which he has approached the henchmen to kill the industrialist. A hunt is on for Moorthy.
