Chennai: The chargesheet in the Madurai Kamaraj University sex scandal, involving Assistant Prof Nirmala Devi, was submitted in the Virudhunagar court today.

The 1,160 page chargesheet was submitted by the CB-CID that has been probing the case.

The case relates to Nirmala Devi, working for the Devanga Arts College in Aruppukottai, trying to lure women students of the college to give sexual favours 'to high officials' for monetary consideration and to get good marks.

Her audio recording went viral and caused anger amongst the public. The professor was suspended from the college and she was arrested.

The case was shifted to the CB-CID and Governor Banwarilal Purohit, in his capacity as the Chancellor of Madurai Kamaraj University, to which Devanga Arts College is affiliated, appointed a one-man commission to probe the allegations.

Retired IAS officer Santhanam has been probing the sex-for-cash scandal as the one-man commission.
