Cauvery water inflow into Mettur dam comes down

Chennai: With the rain abating in the catchment areas of the Cauvery river, inflow into Mettur dam has decreased.

According to reports, water release from the two dams in Karnataka has come down from 33.035 cusecs to 19,908 cusecs.

The release of water from Kabini dam has gone down to 15,000 cusecs, and from Krishnaraja Sagar dam, to 4,908 cusecs.

Also, reports say, 27,095 cusecs of water is being released for irrigation purposes in the delta districts.

Water released in the Cauvery river was 9,512 cusecs; Vennaru, 9,507 cusecs;  Kollidam, 7,065 cusecs; and Kallanai channel, 1,011 cusecs.

Inflow into Mettur dam has gone down from 25,275 cusecs to 23,501 cusecs, say reports. With water gushing from the Hogenakkal falls, tourists have been stopped from bathing there or taking coracle rides for the 23rd day today.
