1 yr GST revenue in TN is Rs 50K cr

Chennai: Things seem to be bright on the front of GST for Tamilnadu.

The GST revenue in cash for the period from July 2017 to March of this year was Rs 50,972 crore.

Speaking about this at a press meet here yesterday, Principal Chief Commissioner (GST and Central Excise) C P Rao said for the four months of April and May the cash revenue stood at Rs 9,458 crore.

Similarly, about 5,157 export refund applications amounting to Rs 2,620 crore have been sanctioned till 2 July this year, he reminded. The total number of tax payers as on 5 July this year including those allotted to Tamilnadu is 9,80,497.

He further said two special refund fortnights were conducted between 14 March to 29 March and 31 May to 16 June and tax refunds to the tune of Rs 1,161.78 crore were sanctioned. IGST refunds on exports amounting to Rs 2,085.62 crore have also been granted.

Many trade facilitation measures like outreach programmes were conducted, said C P Rao and added that about 260 dedicated seva kendras are functioning in the zone for helping the tax payers in carrying out their legal obligations in GST, redressal of their procedural difficulties.

Commissioner (Chennai south, GST and Central Excise) K M Ravichandran and Commissioner (Chennai north, GST and Central Excise) M Sridhar Reddy were also present.
