TN poised for a big total against Odisha

Chennai: Brilliant unbeaten half centuries by Vijaya Shankar and Baba Aprajith took Tamilnadu to 438 for 4 after lunch on day two of their Ranji encounter against Odisha at DMRC Grounds in Cuttack today.

Resuming their overnight score of 292 for 3, the visitors lost Baba Indarjith for 45.

Vijaya Shankar and Aprajith scored at brisk rate. They were unbeaten on 71 and 69 respetcively.  Vijaya Shankar managed five boundaries and a maximum, while Aprajith knocks seven boundaries so far.

Yesterday, India opener Murali Vijay was looking to warm up well for the forthcoming Test series against Sri Lanka, scoring a well-compiled century.

It was a typical Vijay (140, 273 balls, 15x4s, 1x6s) innings and he also ensured Tamilnadu ended the day at a commanding 292/3. Vijay was severe on spinners Poddar and Dhiraj whipping balls to the mid-wicket fence.

With Rahil Shah and all-rounder Yo Mahesh to follow, Tamilnadu looks set to put up a big score so that they can push for an outright victory.
