TNPL: Karaikudi bowlers help register first victory

Dindigul: IDream Karaikudi Kaalai overpowered VB Kanchi Veerans at the NPR College Ground in Natham (Dindigul) on Thursday to register their first win in the 2018 Sankar Cement-TNPL.

After losing their opening encounter in the Super Over against Lyca Kovai Kings,  Kaalai  made a triumphant comeback with a sterling bowling effort.

Karaikudi captain Srikkanth Anirudha severely punished VB Kanchi Veerans’ bowlers with the bat to lead the team to victory by eight wickets.

"We lost too many wickets in the Powerplay, and recovering from that was always going to be difficult. We needed to score 170 at least.

Credit to their bowlers but we should have batted better," said Kanchi all-rounder Subramnania Siva after the match.

"This is a very difficult ground to defend totals and our first innings total was below par and once Anirudha started opening up, he was quite

unstoppable," he said.

Karaikudi captain Anirudha said that he just tried to hit through the line and will take a lot of confidence from this game. "Still early in the tournament, but this is definitely a momentum changer for us. Want to take every game as it comes," he said.
