Haryana Steelers steal Jaipur's playoff berth

Jaipur: Season 1 champions Jaipur Pink Panthers’ playoffs hopes came to an end after a 37-27 defeat to Haryana Steelers at their home ground.

In the other match of the day, Bengaluru Bulls kept their slim playoff hopes alive by beating Dabang Delhi 35-32 Jaipur Pink Panthers vs Haryana Steelers Defender Somvir Shekhar was out to prove a point taking out Deepak Kumar Dahiya and then the seasoned Wazir Singh to give Jaipur a 3-1 lead early in the game.

But Haryana were able to equalise at 5-5 around half way through the first half and a super raid by Dahiya gave Haryana the advantage once again at 10-9.

The half time score read 16-12 in Haryana’s favour. Wazir started the second half off in style for Haryana with a two point raid to increase their lead to 7 points. It looked all over for Jaipur after Haryana inflicted an all-out on them through Wazir and got a solid 33-21 advantage. They then kept the Jaipur raiders down to ensure an easy 37-27 victory for their side.

Bengaluru Bulls vs Dabang Delhi Bengaluru and Delhi started the contest with a measured approach as neither team managed to assert themselves over their opponents in the opening quarter. The Bulls then finally took control of the match in the penultimate minute of the half by enforcing an all-out on Delhi and led 17-9 by the end of the first half.

The pace of the action went up a notch in the second period. Delhi fought back through Sriram and Baliyan, whose super raid in the 24th minute and reduced deficit to 20-14.

Dabang seized the momentum and went on to inflict an all-out on Bengaluru four minutes from time to make it 30-27. But Rohit and Ajay did their job in attack for Bengaluru, while Pahal defended astutely to see the southerners sneak over the finish line.
