Bangalore Machas wins third round of 3x3 Basketball League

Chennai:  Bangalore Machas won the fourth round of the first season of the 3x3 Pro Basketball League by defeating the defending champions Delhi Hoopers in a closely contested match at the Forum Vijaya Mall, here on Sunday.

3X3 Pro Basketball is a 3 per side 10 minute high speed format Basketball which became an Olympic sport last year and it will be played in 2020 Olympics for the first time.

The league is recognised by International Basketball federation and tyhe first season is held in six cities across India from June 9 to August 26.

12 teams participate in this tournament and in the fourth round in Chennai which was held on 21 and 22 July saw fierce battle between the teams and in the end Delhi and Bangalore played the finals.

Bangalore, who were not the favourites going into the finals played aggressively and took an early lead in the match. For Bangalore, particularly Timajh Parker - Rivera was at his best and he used his height effectively to score more baskets and also restricted Delhi from scoring.

Throughout the game Bangalore maintained a marginal lead despite a tough challenge from their opponents, who won the last three rounds and were vying for a fourth consecutive victory.

Bangalore had the support of Chennaites at the mall who were cheering whenever Parker-Rivera scored. In the end the score was 20-20 and Bangalore pocketed one more basket to deny a fouth staight victory to Delhi and emerge as new champions. Parker - Rivera was adjudged as the most valuable player amidst cheers from the crowd.

The league moves to Bangalore for the fifth round.
