Since its launch, YouTube has not changed the logo. The logo has been a pair of words 'You' and 'Tube' which is wrapped inside tube. It is said tube is slang for a television set, which used to be powered by vacuum tubes. So, to overhaul from what it was to what it is now, the name and brand is getting its biggest makeover ever.

The YouTube logo is being refreshed, shifting the emphasis away from the word 'Tube' and on to the familiar play button.

The company says, "The updated logo combines a cleaned up version of YouTube wordmark and icon, creating a more flexible design that works better across a variety of devices, even on the tiniest screens."

The 12-year-old service is also getting a new typeface, color scheme and a bunch of major changes to look, feel and functionality of its desktop and mobile app but could take a little bit of getting used to.

The desktop version also got a cleaner new user interface. And, if you do not like the usual white and red theme, you can activate black and red dark theme, which is far less of a strain on the eyes. You can try this by clicking the account symbol, selecting dark theme.

The mobile app gets the most features and more cleaner interface and navigation buttons have been relocated to the bottom of the screen making it easy to access.

Features such as speeding up and slowing down the playback of a video has also been added. The site also says it is experimenting with gestures, such as skipping a video by swiping right, but work is still in progress.
