Telangana govt to digitize rare historic documents

Hyderabad: The Telangana government would digitize, upgrade and preserve rare and historic documents, State Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Kadiam Srihari said.

Srihari was speaking at the inauguration of the two-day 62nd session of the 'Indian Historical Records Committee,' here, an official release said.

The State archives (institute) was one of the top ten archives in the world having 50 millions of documents, the release, quoting the minister, said.

The minister said the government would take up measures to conserve archival records with the expenditure borne by the State government.

Srihari said within a year all documents of the Archives institute would be digitized which is a crucial step in safeguarding the history for future generations, the release said.

The release quoted Raghavendra Singh, Secretary, Union Ministry of Culture, as saying that the country possesses millions of manuscripts which can give fresh life to the narrative of history if they are preserved well.
