Chennai: Poker Sports League is set to host its second season here. It will bring together Poker enthusiasts from all across the world. Talking about the launch of season two, PSL Co founder & CEO Pranav Bagai said, “Two teams are up for grabs. There are interests. The league owners are looking to get the best of the best on board. We are opening up two teams for bidding to give an opportunity to all the poker lovers across the country to be a part of this fantastic growth story. A statement from the league said, PSL franchisee ownership rights for an eight-year period come for nine crore with a year-on-year fee structure. The right to enter the fray comes for a Rs 57.5 lakh. The player salaries would come to Rs 14 lakh and the team vie for a stake in the seasons prize purse of Rs 3.6 crores.
PSL season 1, saw Delhi Panthers, owned by Rishi Kajaria of Kajaria Ceramics take home Rs 1.5 crore as prize money. Season one live streaming has registered 4.5 million views on Facebook. The PSL final table has recorded 1.28 million views. The league aims to make poker a popular sport in India by putting together a combination of skill, mathematics, decision making and grit which are required in the right mix to emerge as a Poker champion.
The league will roll out with the online and live qualifiers from December onwards, leading to the final team selection in April 2018. The grand finale will be held in Goa in May 2018. Twelve teams this year will consist of a total of ten players each, comprising of one mentor and captain, two pro-players, two from free live qualifiers, three from free online qualifiers and two wild-card entries.
