Chennai: A country’s ability and potential for growth is determined by the size of its trained youth population and youngsters should be dynamic, vibrant and innovative, said Governor Banwarilal Purohit.
Addressing a gathering of 50 youth from Jammu and Kashmir, who called on him at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday, the Governor said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheme ‘Skill India’ has opened wide opportunities for the youth to develop their skills and be a master in their field of interest.
He appealed to the youth to be ambassadors of culture and peace and asked them to contribute their might to strengthen the fabric of national unity and work with commitment for peace and progress.
The Governor said that Tamilnadu is a peaceful State buzzing with economic activity and they could see how peace and harmony contributes to the economic growth of a State.
The youth from Jammu and Kashmir are part of the Inter State Youth Exchange Programme under ‘Ek Bharat , Shreshtha Bharat’ and they are on a visit to Tamilnadu from 6 to 18 November, a Raj Bhavan press release said.
The Governor wished them a happy, fruitful visit and pleasant stay in Tamilnadu. Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan State Director (i/c), Tamilnadu and Puducherry, S Satheese, officers and about 40 youth from various districts of Tamilnadu who are to visit Jammu & Kashmir as part of the youth exchange programme were also present.
