Modi in Chennai tomorrow


Chennai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Chennai tomorrow, to attend a couple of events. It will be an one-day trip and he will return to the capital on the same day.


According to sources, he will arrive Chennai Airport at 10 am, where he will be received by Governor Banwarilal Purohit. Later, the Prime Minister will leave by helicopter and reach INS Adyar, where he would be received by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami.


It is said that the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam will brief Prime Minister about the damages caused by rains due to northeast monsoon across the State and would seek relief amount.


Modi will then proceed to Madras University Centenary Hall at 10.30 am to preside over the 75th anniversary celebrations of Tamil daily 'Dina Thanthi', where Banwarilal, Palaniswami and Panneerselvam would participate.


As part of security measures, over 10,000 policemen have been posted in the city and traffic diversions have been made at Marina.


After the function at Madras University Centenary Hall, the Prime Minister will attend the wedding of IAS official in the Prime Minister's office, T V Somanathan's daughter, at Mayor Ramanathan Chettiar Hall at Raja Annamalai Puram from 11.30 am to 12 noon.


It is also said that Modi will hold consultation meeting with BJP State president Tamilisai Soundararajan, Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan, Rajya Sabha member L Ganesan and senior leader Vanathi Srinivasan in city and will later leave for Delhi.
