Vijay Sethupathi starrer Karuppan has been censored. It has managed a clean U certificate. The makers are planning to release the movie 29 September. Directed by Paneerselvam of Renigunda fame, the movie has Bobby Simha playing the villain and veteran actor Ravichandran’s granddaughter Tanya as the romantic interest of Vijay Sethupathi.
Karuppan also features Aadukalam Kishore, Pasupathy, Singampuli and Sarath Lohitaswa in pivotal characters. Imman has scored the music for the film and KA Sathkivel of IvanVeramathiri fame is in charge for the visuals.
Vijay Sethupathi will be seen in a rural avatar. “The film is not about the recent jallikattu issue. Even though I play a bull tamer, the fi lm is about Tamil culture and my character’s name Karuppan is the identity of a lot of Tamilians across the globe,” he said. On sharing the screen with Bobby Simha, Vijay Sethupathi, says, ‘Bobby is not the stereotypical villain. We were supposed to work on a similar project a long time ago.
“When Karuppan came my way, I insisted that we have Bobby on board. Our camaraderie will reflect on the screen. We are best friends andthere have been occasions where he has annoyed me. But we all have best friends who annoy us, don’t we?”
