Chennai: The controversies surrounding reality show Bigg Boss refuses to die down, even after its favourite contestant Oviya Helen made an exit.
The Nazarethpet police have initiated an inquiry into the case after advocate S S Balaji filed a complaint seeking action on the suicide attempt by Oviya. She held her breath and jumped into a swimming pool in Bigg Boss house. The contestant had alleged that she needed help and eventually walked out of the show.
Balaji said, “The complaint is not just against the attempt she made on her life, we want the inquiry to find out if there has been any conspiracy by Vijay TV, Endemol Productions and host Kamal Hassan to mount pressure on one contestant, causing her mental agony, using the rules and norms of the games. If the mental disturbance is due to that we will strongly oppose broadcasting such programmes as it has a negative impact on the audience, especially as Oviya has a huge following.”
Inspector of police contacted Oviya’s personal secretary for a response to the complaint, over phone and she told the inspector that she did not attempt suicide and she “just went into the pool pretending to commit suicide”.
The inspector has asked her to come to the station in a day or two to record her statement.
Oviya, one of the popular contestants on the Bigg Boss show, was disturbed after an inmate of the house turned down her love proposal. She reportedly went through isolation, forcing her to walk out of the show.
