Chennai: Samsung India, Consumer Electronics director, Rishi Suri said that Chennai is one of the biggest markets where the company has 27.9 per cent market share with leadership in premium with 41.3 per cent market share at an interaction with the press in the city. He said that Chennai is pivotal for Samsung to build a strong presence in the region.
“The market share of Samsung refrigerator in the side by side segment it is 46 per cent, frost free is 41.3 per cent and for direct cooling it is 17.6 per cent,” he added. He added that the company is making significant investments in the non-metro cities recognising their immense potential.
“Samsung eyes 35 per cent market share in the 14000 plus price range which suits best for non metro cities,” he added. He also said that close to 10 lakh solar powered refrigerators have been sold in the country after it was introduced earlier this year.
Talking about the target audience, he said that it is mainly focused on people who are between the age group of 25 to 44 years in the urban, semi urban and rural areas.
He said that the investments made by the companies are based on the market potential. He added that the service network has grown to over 3000 from 2000 service points earlier and has extended the reach to customers in over 6000 talukas across the country. “As far as Tamilnadu is concerned there are 46 service vans in the State which covers 100 Talukas,” he said.
