Chennai: Naval cadets from Tamilnadu had a thrilling adventure experience at the scuba diving camp during their closing ceremony held recently. According to a press release, the camp was organised by Youth Welfare and Sports Development Department (government of Tamilnadu) in association with the NCC Directorate of Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Andaman Nicobar at Anna Swimming Pool at Marina Beach between 3 and 14 July.
Deputy Director General of NCC Directorate of Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Andaman Nicobar Commodore Vijesh K Garg presided over the closing ceremony. Group Commander Madras ‘B’ Group Group Captain Dinesh Suri and Commanding Offi cer of NO 4 TN Naval Tech Unit of NCC Captain B Suresh Babu were among those present.
The aim of camp was to expose the youngsters of Tamilnadu to adventure activities, develop waterborne skills. The cadets were imparted practical training in use of two different kind of compressed air underwater breathing apparatus as well as snorkeling by professional naval clearance divers from Clearance Diving Unit of INS Adyar.
About 50 senior division boy NCC cadets and 10 senior wing girl cadets of different colleges participated in the camp, the press note added.
