Read good books to reach greater heights: Swamiji

Chennai: Students have bright future and they could fulfill their ambitions if they took great interest and concentrated on studies, said Swami Atmaghananandaji, Adhyaksha, Sri Ramakrishna Math, Kancheepuram.

Participating in the annual day celebrations of P S High School (North) at TAG – P S Dakshinamurthi Auditorium, Mylapore on Thursday, he said, “To develop good interest, it is important for students to shun all unnecessary things like watching TV programmes and playing with cell phones. These are the challenges students face today and they should overcome them”.

“Parents should take their children to good places, and guide them to read good books and watch good programmes,” he added. Swamiji also stressed the importance of building a good character and pointed out that spirituality was our culture.

“To develop a good character students should read good books and interact with good people, which will help them to imbibe good things and take them to greater heights. Above all this students must develop a spirit of service with no expectations for that will only bring fulfillment to their life,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Star Health and Allied Insurance Co Ltd chief financial officer S Ramaswamy said students days were the best part in the life of an individual and a strong foundation laid during these years will serve to make life in the future good. He also requested students to take part in extracurricular activities for an all-inclusive growth process. The annual magazine Poonchittu was released. The events of 100 years from 1916 to 2016 have been featured in the issue.
