Rajinikanth’s Kaala, which is slated for release 7 June, may be pushed to July following protests across Tamilnadu against Sterlite shootings in Thoothukudi.

The movie directed by Pa Ranjith and produced by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films, is censored and publicised for release 7 June.

However a few days ago, the movement for the closure of Vedanta’s Sterlite Copper plant turned bloody on the 100th day

of the agitation as 13 people were killed when police opened fire on rampaging protesters in Tuticorin. Sources close to Rajinikanth say,"The movie features superstar in the role of Kaala sait, who goes from Thoothukudi to Mumbai and becomes a don in Dharavi slums. Since uneasy clam prevails in Thoothukudi, there are talks to postpone the release and wait for peace to return."

Rajinikanth on Wednesday condemned the police firing at the protesters in Thoothukudi. In a video message posted in his Twitter handle, Rajinikanth said he condemned the unlawful action of the police against the protesters.

He expressed his condolences to the family of the people who died.

Kaala has Nana Patekar, Samuthirakani, Sampath, Ravi Kale, Sayaji Shinde, Pankaj, Huma Qureshi, Eswari Rao and Arvind Akash in lead roles. It has music by Santosh Narayanan.

Speaking about the movie,Ranjith, says,"The movie speaks about a man from Tamilnadu, who is settled in Dharavi slums

in Mumbai. It is one of the biggest slum in the country."
