After the success of Casteless Collective, a fusion of various music forms from indie music composers and singers, director Pa Ranjith's Neelam Cultural Centre and Madras Recordings have initiated the new musical venture.

Madras Recordings will once again bring seven independent bands of different styles from all over the country for a musical concert named Madras Medai to be performed in Chennai, which music buffs can enjoy free of cost.

The seven performing bands are Paul Jacob feat, Chinna Ponnu, The Casteless Collective of Ro, Dopeadelicz feat, Dharavi United, Jatayu, Siennor and Othasevuru.

The music genres include folk, gaana, blues, pop, hip-hop, jazz, big band orchestra, carnatic and electronic music.

Says Pa Ranjith, "A lot of unknown but talented independent musicians are participating. Madras Medai will bring these artistes to the spotlight. This concert will also break the myth that only cinema music is people's music".
