Chennai: Dhanush’s directorial venture Paa Paandi revolved around the life of a retired stuntman and whenever there was a dull moment in the movie, a teenage boy (Rajkiran’s friend in the movie) would appear to liven up the proceedings with his one-liners. He is a small screen actor, who hogged limelight playing Millimetre in Vijay-starrer Nanban.

A quick chat with Rinson

Q: Tell us about yourself.

A: All credit to Dhanush anna. I started my career as dancer. I was part of many TV shows. I even shook my legs with Simbu in Kaalai. I did shows like Little superstar (Jaya), Jodi No 1 and Boys Vs Girls (Vijay TV).

Q: How did Nanban happen?

A: I was there at Endhiran audition. But could not get a role. Thanks to director Atlee, I got an opportunity to act in Nanban in an interesting role. I was called millimetre in the movie. Shankar sir encouraged me and taught me a lot. Vijay was very friendly.

Q: Your journey from millimetre to centimetre?

A: One day, I got a call from Dhanush to act in a movie. When I met him, he narrated my role. I was surprised for I had maximum scenes with a veteran actor like Rajkiran. I should thank Rajkiran sir for making me feel at ease during the shoot and his encouragement helped me to get my act right.

Q: How do you rate Dhanush as director?

A: He is a wonderful actor. There is a talented film-maker in him. He ensured that every scene was interesting. Before he went for the shoot, he enacts them and gets what he wants from his artistes. He made things easy for us. I want to become a filmmaker in future. I love to act in films that has a good story.

Q: What is the response from audience for your role?

A: When the movie got released, I was afraid of how audience would react and did not go to theatres. But Dhanush called me and urged to go. He said that audience were applauding for my dialogues. Finally, I went to cinema hall to see my performance appreciated.
