Chennai: Most members of the Nadigar Sangam refused to turn up for the filmfare awards event organised in Hyderabad after the organisers refused to pay the donation sought by the association.

The 65th Filmfare Awards was held at the Hyderabad International Convention centre on Saturday evening.

Stars like Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi who were to receive awards for best performance did not turn up including Karthi and Khushbu Sundar. The Nadigar Sangam thanked all those who refused to turn up.

However Amala Paul, Catherine Tresa, Sneha, Prasanna, Aditi Balan, Madhavan and Nithya Menen were the few who attended the event.

Filmfare pays artistes who perform on stage but much recently the Nadigar Sangam has made it mandatory that actors should participate only in functions in which they are paid  and the organising entities contribute donations towards the association and Tamil Film Producers Council.

Much recently Kollywood stars attended the Vijay Awards and Galatta Dot Com awards as those entities had paid a trust run by Nadigar Sangam between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 40 lakh.

According to Nadigar Sangam the money donated by the award ceremonies towards their trust was used to provide health and educational aid to deserving members.
