"I have tried to convey how to avoid crime against women through my directorial Nungambakkam," says filmmaker Ramesh Selvan.

The movie is based on the murder of an software engineer in Nungambakkam railway station by a stalker. Ajmal plays a tough police officer, who investigates the murder.

Asked about the film, Ramesh Selvan, who made films like Ulavuthurai, Jananam and Vajram before, says, "This is the first time that a movie has been made on a murder when the case is still pending in court. We had to change the title of the movie from Swathy Kolai Vazhakku to Nungambakkam due to protests."

The movie conveys several messages to the society. It will educate people to come together and prevent crimes in society. They should co-operate with the police, he says and adds, "There is a huge challenge these days, Commercial entertainers reach people easily whereas films based on real-life incidents fails to make any impact. But I want people to be educated. My movie should serve a cause."

A creator should social responsibility. They should be encourages, Ramesh Selvan says and adds, "My next movie is also about a sensational issue. It will go on floors once Nungambakkam is released."
