US Consulate celebrates Pride Month

Chennai: The US Consulate General in Chennai commemorated Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Intersex (LGBTI) Pride Month with a variety of events and discussions throughout the month of June.

Consul General Robert Burgess and other Consulate employees unfurled a rainbow flag on the exterior of the Consulate building, a press release said.

Burgess engaged with LGBTI community members and advocates, and Lauren Lovelace, Consul for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, moderated a panel discussion on "A Decade of Pride in Chennai: History and Evolution."

Alexis Wolff, spokesperson, moderated a discussion about inclusion in digital media and hosted a screening of Kannada language film Naanu Avanalla Avalu (I am not he, but she), followed by the discussion with the film's director, lead actor, and an LGBTI community member.
