Chennai: A day after the severed head of a history-sheeter and auto driver was found on a road at Urapakkam, the remaining body parts were found at a forest area at nearby Meenakshipuram this morning.

Guduvancherry police rushed to the spot where Kamalakannan's abandoned body was spotted by a shepherd, and took it to the Chengalpet hospital.

The next of kin of Kamalakannan were summoned and his wife Sudha identified the head and revealed that he had left the house Saturday afternoon.

This gruesome incident came to light when the head, later identified to be that of Kamalakannan's - a resident of Kadaperi, Tambaram - was found at Urapakkam Sunday afternoon.

In a further development, the deceased's vehicle was found under the Chrompet overbridge, and the police team sought the help of a village administrative officer to verify whether the land where the body was retrieved is in forest jurisdiction or was a poromboke land.

Subsequently, the police intensified the probe with the aid of sniffer dogs.
