Tambaram Music Club in Chennai suburb turns 23

Chennai: Sita Devi Garodia Hindu Vidyalaya at East Tambaram in the city suburb will be a centre of attraction. Tambaram Music Club (TMC), an organisation promoting classical music celebrated its 23rd anniversary recently.

Talking to ‘News Today’, TMC founder S Bashyam said former judge of the Madras High Court, T V Masilamani, was the chief guest and veena vidwan P Vasanth Kumar was the guest of honour.

The highlight of the event will be a concert by Sangita Kalanidhi T V Gopalakrishnan and troupe, he said.

“Classical music for everyone in Tambaram was the motive that led to the establishment of TMC 23 years ago. The first kutcheri was performed by G N Gnanadesikan. More than 260 kutcheris have been performed under the aegis of the club in the southern suburbs,” said Bashyam.
