Chennai: The members of the 1998 batch of Sri Sankara Senior Secondary School, Adyar, in the city celebrated their 20 years of graduating recently at the school campus.

A press release said that the event had close to 40 alumni participating, with students flying from US, Dubai and Singapore exclusively for the event.

The principal of the school, Mita Venkatesh, addressed the gathering and shared her pleasant experience of teaching students from classes seven to twelve.

Speaking to this paper, one of the organisers, Sivakumar Kalyanaraman said, “It was heartwarming to see the significant changes the school has undergone. For the past three years, all of us from the 1998 batch have been part of a WhatsApp group and even met in small gatherings. But we decided to have a bigger meet at the school to mark this event.”

It was a proud moment for teachers to see the students they taught, being achievers today, the release said.

Sivakumar said while the locality has become a lot cleaner, the aura of the surrounding was still the same. “The school is still a home away from home.” The teachers shared a few anecdotes relating to the said batch. For details, contact 97910 09456.
