Samayal Rani contest: 5 finalists from Nanganallur, Velacheri

"Healthy as well as tasty food makes life great and joyful. So, we should strive to make what we eat more desirable for our family," said Home Plan Guru managing director Padmaja Priyadarshini, who was the judge for the first leg of ‘Talk Samayal Rani Yaaru’ round two Talk Media contest held at Sri Sri Sri Chandrasekara Kalyana Mandapam, Adambakkam, on 15 July.

Contestants from Nanganallur and Velacheri battled it out at the event.

A total of 23 contestants participated in the semi-finals of which five emerged winners and qualified for the final round to be held 29 July.

Contestants enthusiastically prepared different dishes within the stipulated time of one hour and their family members came along to support them.

The five winners were Srilatha Santhosh, who prepared Multi Millet Bisibela, Suriya Sridharan, who prepared Mango Kollu Brinji (2-in-1), Sujatha Srinivasan, who prepared Broccoli Kitchadi and Mango Aval Sweet, Nandini, who prepared Mexican Quesadilla, and Sujitha Kasiraj who prepared Chettinad Saiva Meen Kulambu Varuval.

"Our judgement was based on three main factors. One, whether the food prepared had healthy ingredients in it, two, whether it can be consumed by people across all age groups and three, taste," said Priyadarshini.

Contestants who qualified for the finals were given prizes.

"We are very happy to have qualified for the finals and also appreciate Talk Media for organising events like these through which talents of women like me would come out," said Sujitha Kasiraj, one of the winners.
