Robbery attempt in moving bus in city

Chennai: Public thwarted a robbery attempt in a moving bus at Arumbakkam last night.

Police said five men boarded the private bus headed to Coimbatore at around 11.30 pm and threatened the driver and passengers to take their valuables out.

But some youngsters present in the bus jumped out of the vehicle and alerted a police patrol team. Immediately, the thieves dispersed and tried to escape.

But the public managed to nab one person of the gang and handed over to police. On preliminary investigation, he was identified to be Dinesh (23), a resident of Poonamallee. He had murder chargers against him.

A case has been registered with Arumbakkam police station who are in the search for four other men.
