Rank list announced for vet university courses

Chennai: The Tamilnadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) today released the rank list for admissions of BVSc and AH and B.Tech Food Technology, Poultry and Dairy Technology courses, for the academic year 2018-19.

According to a release from the university, the sale of application started 21 May and went on till 11 June, while the scrutiny of applications and original certificates of the applicants was done till 18 June.

With this, the counselling is likely to begin in the last week of July.

Earlier, the university management had informed that this will be the last academic year when admissions to veterinary courses are done based on Plus-Two marks. From next academic year onwards, admissions will be based on NEET.

This year, 11,948 students applied for the BVSc and AH (Bachelor of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry) courses of which 9,674 applications have been shortlisted after scrutiny. The shortlisted applicants will compete for 288 seats.

Besides, 122 students from vocation stream would compete for 18 seats. There are 94 seats in food, poultry and dairy technology, for which 1,949 applicants have been shortlisted out of 2,418.

As much as 15 per cent of the total seats of TANUVAS has been allocated for the Veterinary Council of India.
