Chennai: Ever since he returned to the city late last night, Rajinikanth has been the most hot and happening topic.

The actor has speeded up work for his political entry and had a meeting with Gandhiya Makkal Iyakkam founder Tamilaruvi Manian this morning.

Sources said Rajini Makkal Mandram secretary Raju Mahalingam also met the Superstar at his Poes Garden residence today.

Rajini will be attending a felicitation function for former AIADMK MP and founder of MGR group of institutions A C Shanmugam tomorrow, where he is expected to talk politics.

Rajinikanth made his first political speech after his announcement of entering politics at an event organised by Shanmugam to unveil the statue of late chief minister M G Ramachandran.

Rajinikanth returned from Darjeeling last night after completing the 35 days shooting schedule for his upcoming movie produced by Sun Pictures and directed by Karthik Subbaraj.

The next schedule of the movie is expected to take place in Madurai for which a huge set is said to have been erected.

Even before the Superstar landed in Chennai, his return made quiet a buzz on social media. The hashtag #ThalaivarReturns trended in Twitter. All eyes were on his return, especially awaiting his response in the Thoothukudi shootout issue.

He was trolled for his comments that the protest against Sterlite was infiltrated by anti-social elements. However, things turned in favour of Rajini fans after fishermen from Threspuram gave a complaint which almost echoed Rajini's view.

Following this, the ecstatic fans trended the #AndreSonnaRajini tag. Fans were eagerly waiting to see what Rajini has to say about the recent turn of events. However, much to their disappointment, he did not address the media.

Spiritual buzz

Photos of Rajinikanth's visit to Belur Math in West Bengal where he met Swami Smaranananda ji Maharaja were released today and went viral.
