Rahul, Rajinikanth to visit Karunanidhi today

Chennai: Congress president Rahul Gandhi and actor Rajinikanth are likely to visit DMK chief M Karunanidhi who has been hospitalised for the past four days.

Meanwhile, State Health Minister Vijayabaskar today informed that the former Chief Minister is all well and is stable even without the support of any medical device.

Karunanidhi was taken to hospital after a complication in his urinal system and blood pressure on Saturday night. Sources today said his condition is fine and he continues to be under the observation of doctors.

In the last three days, various politicians and celebrities were visiting him at Kauvery Hospital to enquire about his health. Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Governor Banwarilal Purohit, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, MDMK Chief Vaiko, VCK chief Tirumavalavan, former Union Minister Salmaan Kurshid, industrialist N Srinivasan, spiritualist Jaggi Vasudev and film personalities Sivakumar, Suriya, directors Vikraman, Manobala, Bhagyaraj and Rameshkannah visited the hospital and enquired about Karunanidhi's health to his family members.

Sources said Rahul Gandhi would visit Kauvery Hospital this evening. Rajinikanth who is presently busy with the second schedule of his upcoming movie with director Karthik Subburaj will also likely arrive at the hospital tonight.


Speaker of Malaysian Parliament Vigneswaran visited Chennai and met the family members of Karunanidhi today and later said, “I pray for the complete recovery of Karunanidhi's health soon.'

Congress National Spokesperson and actress Khushbu after enquiring about Karunanidhi's health today at the hospital, said, 'I believe he will soon recover and would address his party cadres in his own style - En Uyirinum Melaana Anbu Udanpriappaugale.”
