Palaniswami unveils 2 govt dept projects

Chennai: Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami today unveiled a host of initiatives for the Labour Welfare and Transport Departments at the Secretariat through video conferencing. It included a workers’ building comprising of a weighing lab at Kathaparai village at Karur built at a cost of Rs 1.95 crore.

He also inaugurated a labour security and hygiene building at SIDCO Industrial Estate, Guindy, three office buildings each for labourers at Dharmapuri, Namakkal, Nagapattinam districts, employment exchange office at Kanchipuram and Villupuram. All these projects were done at a cost of Rs 17.80 crore.

Also 32 jeeps bought at a cost of Rs 2 crore were given to Transport Department officers for field visits to address the

complaints of labourers such as issuing of identity cards.

State Transport Minister M R Vijayabhaskar, Labour Minister Nilofer kafeel, Chief Secretary Girija Vaidyanathan, Labour and Employment Secretary P Amudha, Labour Welfare Secretary K Balachandran, Employment and

Training Director N Subbayan, Industry Security and Hygiene Director P Bose and officials were present during the event.
