Ousted AMMK member makes men hurl petrol bomb at TTV's house

Chennai: Tension prevailed in Adyar after petrol bomb was hurled at Amma Makkal Munntera Kazhagam's (AMMK) chief and RK Nagar MLA TTV Dhinarakan's house in Adyar.

According to police, this afternoon, a couple threw petrol bomb raising slogans against the leader. Enquiries revealed that it was the handiwork of Parimalam, a former office-bearer of AMMK. A couple of weeks ago, Dhinkaran dismissed him from the party for involving in anti-party activities.

Apparently angered, Parimalam orchestrated the attack. He is absconding.However his driver has been taken to custody. A search is on to arrest Parimalam.

It may be recalled that a couple of weeks ago, stones were hurled on Dhinakaran's car at Tondiarpet in RK Nagar. It resulted in group clash in which a women police officer sustained injuries.

Dhinakaran arrived at Tondiarpet to distribute financial assistance to few beneficiaries. No sooner he reached the place, a group of men hurled stones on his car and shouted slogans against him. Dhinakaran's supporters retaliated.

Following information, police rushed to the spot and tried to pacify them. However they continued to fight. Dhinakaran won the byelections to RK Nagar Assembly constituency in December, 2017 defeating AIADMK's Madhusoodhanan by a margin of over 40,000 votes. He contested as independent candidate.
