Chennai: Opposition leader and DMK working president M K Stalin raised the issue of NEET in the Assembly today and alleged that students from other States were illegally obtaining domicile certificates from Tamilnadu and occupying the seats meant for "our students".

Stalin said, "This was widely prevalent last year and this year also it is happening. Students belonging to Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana somehow illegally obtain domicile certificates through certain sources that declare that they are from Tamilnadu. They then illegally occupy the seats that rightfully belong to Tamilnadu students."

According to current rules students belonging to other states can apply to medical universities in Tamilnadu under the all-India quota which is 15 per cent.

Replying to this, Health Minister Vijaya Bhaskar said the rules have been made stricter this year and students found illegally getting domicile certificates and applying in universities here will be disqualified and criminally prosecuted.
