Motivational messages help Chennai school students

Chennai: The Government Girls High School in South Usman Road in the city takes various initiatives for multifaceted development among students.

One of them was installing portraits of great persons like Swami Vivekananda, Thiruvalluvar, Bharathiyar and APJ Abdul Kalam on the school walls tagged with messages conveyed by them.

The motive was to impart moral values amidst children and parents. The paintings were done by Mani of Ashok Nagar and students actively co-ordinated the project. P Padma, headmistress, said ‘Lot of children volunteered in the assignment and co-ordinated with the artists.’

"‘We have planned various initiatives to educate children with moral values and this one proved to be highly successful,’" she added.

"Slogans were also written to create motivation among the students. It drew the attention of parents also who paused to read them after dropping their wards here,"’ she continued.

The school also produced cent per cent result for the fifth consecutive year. Stressing aesthetic values of the school, Padma said," ‘With the support of philanthropists, government officials, teachers and few NGOs, steps were taken to beautify the school and students are eager to keep the surroundings neat and clean."’

"On academic front, the school focuses on each ward and conducts special classes after working hours to enable students excel in examinations," commented a parent.

"‘I am happy to see my daughter prefer to read more about leaders like Abdul Kalam, Vivekananda and am confident she will become a worthy citizen,’" she continued.

The students also get daily breakfast, lunch and other State announced benefits at the school.
