Minambakkam railway station gets automatic ticket vending machine

Chennai: In a development that will address the greatest issue of train passengers at Meenambakkam railway station, in the city suburb, a brand new automatic ticket vending machine has been installed on the premises with the help of the constituency development fund of Rajya Sabha MP R S Bharathi.

Residents welcomed the move and requested the Railway officials to maintain the machine well for passengers welfare.

Sources said the inaugural event took place recently at the station premises in the presence of R S Bharathi and Alandur MLA T M Anbarasan.

A total of Rs 15 lakh as been invested from the constituency development fund of the Rajya Sabha MP.

Earlier, passengers from Moovarasampet and Pazhavanthangal had to walk half-a-kilometre via the Meenambakkam subway to buy tickets.

So, it was they who first requested for the automatic ticket vending machine. The equipment along with its shelter has been installed on platform No 1 of the station.

Southern Railway officials Manoj, Sathyanarayanahari, ex-councillors Chandran and Guna were among those present at the function.

It is to be noted that Alandur MLA Anbarasan also recently got in touch with Chennai Corporation Commissioner Karthikeyan and handed over a petition regarding Alandur constituency.

It read,’As rainy season is about to begin, all the broken water canals in Jeevan Nagar need to be reconstructed. All the drains along railway tracks in Guindy, Maduvinkarai, Alandur Kannan Colony need to be desilted.’

Later, the MLA also got in touch with Chennai Metro Water official Prakash and requested him to open the second pumping station at Adambakkam Nilamangai Nagar soon.
