Medico commits suicide in city

Chennai: A third year medical student, who was said to be suffering from depression, committed suicide at his residence at Nerkundram here.

Police said that Tirumal was studying at Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital. He had scored 1135 marks in his twelfth board examination and secured the medical seat in a merit.

A native of Krishnagiri, he stayed at hostel in his first two years of under-graduation. "But he and his mother rented a house at Nerkundram in his third year. He was suffering from depression as his parents are living separated", police said.

This incident came to light when the house owner found Tirumal in an unconscious condition.

It is learnt that the youngster had attempted to commit suicide four days back. But his friends thwarted the attempt and provided him with support.

He took the extreme step when his mother went to their native on a family

visit. A case has been registered with Koyambedu police station.
