Man who duped 9 women as IPS officer held near Chennai

Chennai: A  repeat offender, who allegedly duped nine women by posing as an IPS officer, was arrested at Kanathur Tuesday.

The police said the main culprit was identified as Balamanikandan of Indira Nagar, Kanathur.

Yesterday afternoon, he nd four others were found moving around in a car in Kanathur. This raised suspicion among the local residents who enquired with them. The unconvinced public informed the police who reached the spot and interrogated the suspects.

During investigation, the police found that Balamanikandan was already booked under the Goondas Act. Further, he faces charges in Egmore and T P Chatram police stations.

"He has cheated nine women by posing as a police officer on social media," they said.

The police arrested the main culprit and detained the other, later identified as Narayanan (22), Bharathi (23), Raj Kumar (23) and Praveen Kumar (23), for further investigation.
